Midterm I

Midterm I will cover material from the beginning of the semester up to, and including, the last class before it. It will be closed books, notes, laptops and other electronic devices. However, you are allowed to bring up to 2 pages (one sheet front and back) of notes.

The exam will assume knowledge of all the required reading material listed in the Lectures section as well as solutions to homework assignments. However, you can safely assume that there will be no questions on the material covered in these sections of the textbook: 1.3-1.4, 3.3-3.4, 4.3.3.

It will contain a mix of true/false, multiple choice, short answer questions, and problems similar to those in exercises, homework assignments, and quizzes.

Midterm II

The midterm will be designed to be done in 50 minutes and will focus on material from the Oct 6 lecture through the Nov 12 lecture (both included)

The exam will assume knowledge of all the required reading material listed in the Lectures section as well as solutions to homework assignments and Midterm I. You can safely assume that there will be no questions on the material covered in these sections of the textbook: 5.1.4, 5.2.2-5.3, 6.4, 7.2.3, 7.3.2, and 9.1.4.

It will contain a mix of true/false, multiple choice, short answer questions, and problems similar to those in exercises, homework assignments, and quizzes.
